Maurizio Sarri discussed his relationship with Jose Mourinho following Lazio's goalless draw against Mourinho's AS Roma in the Derby della Capitale.

Sarri characterised Mourinho as a 'pain in the butt,' expressing his displeasure with the Portuguese manager's communication style in press conferences.

Despite this, Sarri acknowledged his admiration for Mourinho as a person.

The pre-match war of words between the two managers included Mourinho asserting that Sarri's achievements were comparatively limited in contrast to his own distinguished career.

Speaking to reporters, the Italian said, "We had already crossed paths before the game. I told him, ‘You are a right pain in the butt’.

He replied, ‘For that matter so are you!’. I don’t like dealing with Mourinho the media character, but Mourinho the person is great."

Serie A returns to action after the international break on November 25, with Lazio taking on Salernitana in the opening match of gameweek 13.
