Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, widely known as Vim Lady, has shared her thoughts on the impact that Kennedy Agyapong might have on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign for the NPP flagbearer position and its implications for the party in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Vim Lady noted that since Dr. Bawumia's nomination in the NPP Primaries, the party's pre-election efforts have not matched the effectiveness of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign led by John Dramani Mahama. She highlighted that Dr. Bawumia is currently struggling to navigate previous comments he made about the economy, suggesting that Kennedy Agyapong's involvement could provide a much-needed boost.
During her appearance on Okay FM, she remarked that Kennedy Agyapong could be crucial in energizing the vice president's campaign, which has appeared to falter. She stated, "The NPP's campaign has seemed uncertain, but with Kennedy Agyapong stepping in, it gains new momentum. Mahama is currently at the forefront of campaign efforts. If the NPP campaign were robust, Agyapong’s involvement wouldn’t be necessary."
Vim Lady emphasized the significant influence of Agyapong, noting that certain decisions by President Akufo-Addo have negatively impacted the party, thereby exacerbating Bawumia's challenges. With the current economic difficulties, including high inflation and unemployment, Bawumia appears to be relying on Agyapong as a critical ally and problem solver.
These comments came after Kennedy Agyapong was seen campaigning for Dr. Bawumia during the NPP Ashanti Regional campaign tour, surprising some observers given their previous disagreements.
