A document circulating on social media is alleging that, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, an aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, acquired state properties prior to the change of government in 2017.
According to the documents, Joyce Bawa Mogtari purchased a state-owned Toyota Avensis with registration number GT-2435-14 from the State Transport Corporation (STC).
The transaction took place just two days before the inauguration of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The acquisition of state properties by outgoing officials has been a contentious issue, sparking debates on the ethics and legality of such transactions.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari's name appearing on the list of those who bought state assets has added fuel to the ongoing discussions about accountability and transparency in the transfer of government property.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, also served as the Deputy Minister of Transport during the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) administration.
The Independent Ghana cannot validate the authenticity of this document and also yet to comment on these claims.
