The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has announced a curfew in Sampa Township within the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, effective from October 24, 2024.
The curfew will run nightly from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM and will continue until further notice.
This decision comes in response to advice from the Bono Regional Security Council, following recent chieftaincy disputes in the area.
In a statement, the government urged local chiefs, community leaders, and residents to maintain peace and use non-violent methods to express their concerns.
Additionally, a complete ban has been placed on carrying weapons, including firearms and ammunition, in Sampa Township. Anyone caught with such items will be arrested and prosecuted, as stated by the Ministry.
