2 mins readLeader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor, has promised that if she wins the 2024 elections, her administration will prioritize completing the Saglemi Housing Project Units and providing free accommodation for public servants.Highlighting the essential role of public servants in the nation, Donkor emphasized her commitment to addressing their housing challenges by ensuring they have access to rent-free accommodation.

She believes this initiative will not only enhance their well-being but also acknowledge their significant contributions to Ghana's development.The Saglemi Housing Project, initiated under the John Dramani Mahama government in 2012 with a $200 million loan to build 5,000 affordable housing units, saw completion delays and legal issues under subsequent administrations.

Currently, efforts are underway to revive the project, with five private companies bidding to collaborate on its completion, a move criticized by Donkor in a recent interview with graphic.com.gh."I am not happy with the NPP government partnering with private companies to finish and manage the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project.

"When I come into power, I will complete the Saglemi Housing Project and allow public servants to live in the apartments for free. They won't pay rent. Even after retirement, their children will inherit the apartments," she stated.Akua Donkor has also announced her preparation for the upcoming presidential elections in December."I am actively preparing for the upcoming presidential elections.

I have been very busy lately campaigning and recently undertook a two-week nationwide campaign tour," she remarked.Despite several attempts to secure the presidency in previous elections, she has yet to garner a significant number of votes.
