The leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, emphasized his commitment to honesty in politics by actively seeking public feedback in Ghanaian marketplaces.Kyerematen explained during JoyFM’s Super Morning Show that his decision to interact with people directly stemmed from a desire to truly understand public sentiment.
Kyerematen viewed marketplaces as vital spaces for gauging public opinion, citing his extensive visits to various regions' markets as evidence of his dedication to connecting with ordinary Ghanaians.“I don’t want to deceive myself as a politician. I want to get a sense of how people feel about me because this is about winning the hearts of people.”He acknowledged the risks involved in this approach but deemed it a necessary step in his campaign strategy, emphasising the importance of winning people's hearts.“I would say courageous step to test how people feel about you. Let’s face it, it’s either you are received and hailed or you will be rejected and booed. You will see the darker side or negative side of it," he said.
Reflecting on his conversations in the markets, Kyerematen noted a strong desire for change among Ghanaians. He highlighted their dissatisfaction with the status quo after decades under the NDC and NPP, recognizing the urgency for meaningful transformation based on the sentiments he encountered firsthand.
