Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has addressed concerns about his health.
He was seen actively participating in the NPP Parliamentary Primaries in the Bantama Constituency, dispelling rumors about his well-being after an image of him bedridden in a hospital circulated on social media.
Chairman Wontumi was observed moving around and giving interviews during the elections, demonstrating that he is in good health. When questioned by the press about his well-being, he confidently stated, "I am okay."

Chairman Wontumi had been in the news for making controversial comments about the Asantehene, leading to his summoning by the Manhyia Palace to meet the Kumasi Traditional Council.
However, he failed to attend the meeting, citing illness. The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, appealed to the Traditional Council for an extension on Wontumi's behalf, citing his health condition. Despite their request, the Traditional Council denied the extension, stating that Wontumi did not provide a medical report to support his claim.
Chairman Wontumi is now expected to meet the Traditional Council on Monday, January 29, 2024.
