Kwame A Plus, a political activist and media personality, has issued a warning to the New Patriotic Party on an alleged plot to remove George Akuffo Dampare from his position as Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

A Plus issued a warning on Facebook on July 2, 2023, claiming that the police chief is being targeted by an unnamed NPP element due to his moral position on upholding law and order.

Days after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the Assin North by-election on July 27, the post at the time stated that there were rumors that Dampare's dismissal was being planned.

Some NPP members were worried that the police, commanded by Dampare, had been so tight that there had been no chance for manipulation.
