A 28-year-old domestic worker has been sentenced to seven years in prison for having sexual intercourse with his employer's 12-year-old daughter.
The accused, Augustine Owusu, pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement. The court, presided over by Judge Dora Inkumsah Eshun, convicted Owusu based on his plea and sentenced him accordingly.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei, presented the case, which involved the victim, a Junior High School student, and Owusu, who was employed to care for the victim's grandfather in the same household.
The prosecution established that Owusu had sexual intercourse with the victim on multiple occasions between June and November 2023.
The victim's grandfather grew suspicious of Owusu's behavior and alerted the victim's mother, who warned Owusu to stay away from her daughter.
Despite this warning, Owusu continued his actions, leading to his eventual arrest on March 10, 2024. During the investigation, Owusu admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim on two occasions.
