More than 100 police officers, under the leadership of Central East Regional Police Commander DCOP Owusu Bempah, have been dispatched to the Bawjiase community.
This move comes after a young man was shot dead on Monday, August 5, just ahead of the chief's outdooring ceremony scheduled for Tuesday.
Reports indicate that a group of motorbike riders raided the chief’s palace in an attempt to disrupt the ceremony.
Nai Kwame Korabi Opeikuma IV, the Gyasehene of Awutu Bawjiase, confirmed the incident to Adom News.
In response to prevent further violence, the police have increased their presence in the area to ensure the safe outdooring of the new chief, Nai Kwaku Osardu.
