1 min readCustoms Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) recently intercepted a 40-foot container at the Tema Port.Shipped from the United States, the container, identified by the number MEDU4496951, was falsely declared as containing vehicles and personal items. However, upon inspection, authorities discovered 53 pistols, 74 magazines, and 65 live rounds of ammunition hidden inside suitcases.

The seizure occurred on November 4, 2024, after a detailed investigation by the GRA’s Intelligence and Preventive Units.

emphasising that importing ammunition without the necessary license or permit is illegal, and those involved will be held accountable under the law.The agent and consignees involved in the incident have been released on bail.The Customs Division has reaffirmed its dedication to protecting Ghana’s borders and stopping the illegal import of firearms and other prohibited goods.
