1 min readThe Ghana Photojournalists Network (GPNeT) will as part of a programme to mark World Photography Day organise a workshop on Saturday at the Ghana International Press Centre to enable photojournalists appreciate the potentials of the digital media and enhance their professional capacity.

The one day programme will be held under the theme: "Photojournalism Beyond Social Media; Harnessing the Potentials of the New Media."

World Photography Day is observed annually on August 19, in remembrance of the invention of the Daguerrotype, a photographic process developed by Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce on August 19,1837.

The Day is used to create awareness, share ideas and encourage individuals in the field of photography.

GPNeT is an affiliate of the Ghana Journalists Association that champions the cause of photojournalists in the Ghana. Four renowned Executives of GPNeT are billed to speak at the workshop.

GPNeT President, Mr David Andoh will speak on 'Photojournalism In the Era of Social Media; Opportunities and Disadvantages' Mr. Adu Agyei, an Executive member of GPNeT will discuss 'Photojournalism Ethics' while another Executive member of GPNeT, Mr. Dan Amoo, will talk about 'The Role of the Photo Journalist in News Production.'

General Secretary of GPNeT, Mr. Blay Gibbah, will cap the programme up with the topic 'Making an Impact with Photojournalism.'
