Good governance and the likes are what investors require to be able to invest in the region.“If there is perception of political instability, they would not invest here because of the risks involved,” the President of EBID, Dr George Agyekum Donkor, has said.He highlighted the significance of attracting investments not only for growth and development but also for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across West Africa.

Speaking after receiving the CEO of the Year award in the Africa category at the second edition of the Ghana CEO Vision and Awards event, Dr Donkor acknowledged the challenges faced by the bank. He cited resource constraints, political unrest in some member countries, global geopolitical tensions like the Russia-Ukraine war, and the rising interest rates in the US as obstacles hindering their efforts.

Despite these challenges, he stressed the importance of mobilizing resources to address the significant infrastructure deficit exceeding $6 billion in the sub-region.Dr Donkor expressed gratitude for the recognition and honor bestowed upon him and his colleagues at the event.
