2 mins readMember of Parliament (MP) representing Gomoa West, Mr. Richard Gyan Mensah, has chosen to dedicate two weeks of his parliamentary break to serve as a guest teacher at his former school, Apam Senior High School (SHS).This commendable gesture was intended to give the MP an opportunity to understand and directly experience the challenges faced by teachers, school administrators, and students at the school.

Additionally, it aimed to enrich the students' education by providing them with practical insights and real-world examples, making their learning more meaningful and applicable.During his time as a guest teacher, Mr. Mensah engaged with second-year Business students, covering important topics in Financial Accounting and Economics.

He addressed subjects such as the Correction of Errors and Suspense Account in Financial Accounting and Market Structures and the Revenue Concept in Economics. This initiative serves as a positive example of community engagement and support for education by an elected representative.

Sharing his experience with the GNA, the MP said he was impressed about the conduct and sacrifices of the staff of the school in shaping the future of the students and putting the school among the best in the country.

“The excitement, eagerness and display of real thirst for knowledge demonstrated by the students were truly inspiring, and I am confident that with such enthusiasm, they will achieve great heights in their academic pursuits and beyond,” he said. <img src="

This acknowledgment reflects his appreciation for the chance to give back to his alma mater and support the educational growth of the students“While I cherish the memories and look forward to more such opportunities, I must admit that though I have been a regular visitor to the school, my two weeks stay with the staff and students have been a huge eye opener.

“I have learnt at first, the challenges faced by the school, especially the staff and the students in the discharge of their duties and their learning processes respectively,” he stated. The MP pledged his commitment to addressing the challenges identified within the school in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
