In a brief ceremony held at the National Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Accra on Thursday, September 28, 2023, the Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Julius A. Kuunuor, officially inaugurated the Bushfire Prevention Campaign Planning Committee for the year 2023.

The committee, chaired by DCFO James Owusu-Agyei, Director Rural Fires, comprises representatives from various government entities and organizations, including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Insurance Commission, the Ghana Meteorological Agency, the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Cocoa Board, NADMO, the Forestry Commission, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources,

Kuunuor emphasized that the launch of the Bushfire Prevention Campaign marks the next step in a series of programs and activities scheduled to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the GNFS. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate effectively as a team to devise appropriate solutions to combat the annual devastation caused to Ghana's vegetation by bushfires.
