The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has urged Ghanaians to remain patient and allow the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete its constitutional responsibility of announcing the official results of the December 7 general elections.This appeal comes amid growing tensions and the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) calls for greater transparency in the election process.

In a preliminary post-election briefing held on December 8, CODEO stressed the importance of following constitutional procedures and reassured the public about the EC’s handling of the elections.CODEO’s findings, based on a representative sample of 1,500 polling stations across the country, confirmed that the elections were conducted transparently.

The coalition also reported that 99% of political party agents and all presiding officers signed the parliamentary results declaration forms, bolstering confidence in the electoral process.The coalition praised the EC’s efforts in organizing the election, especially in terms of polling station setup and the ballot counting process, which were generally considered credible.

CODEO also emphasized that its Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) system would provide an independent verification of the EC’s official results once they are declared.In its briefing, CODEO expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including the EC, security forces, media, political parties, and the public, for their peaceful engagement in the electoral process.
