1 min readThe Ministry of Roads and Highways has decided to pause the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act 2024 (Act 1118) so they can engage with stakeholders further.

In a statement released on February 7, 2025, the Ministry explained that this decision came after hearing concerns from important groups involved.

The Act, which was passed by Parliament in July 2024, was meant to improve how Ghana manages its roads by combining the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Department of Feeder Roads into one group for better coordination.

The Ministry assured the public that they remain dedicated to making the road sector more efficient while addressing the concerns raised.

“The decision to suspend the implementation of the NRA Act is a result of the Government’s commitment to addressing major concerns raised by key stakeholders. The Ministry reassures the public of its commitment to streamlining operations and enhancing coordination in the road sector,” the statement read.
