President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged Ghanaian youth to take full advantage of the One Million Coders initiative, describing it as a key to unlocking innovation, entrepreneurship, and international relevance.
Addressing participants at the national launch of the programme on April 16, he urged the young people of Ghana to take the programme as their own.
“To the youth of Ghana, I say this programme is for you. Take it and own it,” Mr. Mahama said.
He highlighted the programme's potential to serve as a foundation for turning dreams into tangible opportunities within the digital space.
“Let this be your launchpad into innovation, entrepreneurship and global relevance. Let this be the bridge between your dreams and the opportunities of the digital age,” he added.
Mr. Mahama emphasised that the youth are not just meant to benefit from this initiative, but to lead its impact and shape the nation’s digital progress.
“You are not just participants in this initiative, you are the architects of Ghana’s digital future,” he stressed.
Looking ahead, he revealed that training centres will be rolled out nationwide through existing community structures.
"In the next phase, we will activate training centres at community information centres across all metropolitan municipal and district assemblies," he announced.
