Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has dismissed claims of a dumsor crisis, insisting that the current power outages are not comparable to the infamous dumsor experienced during the previous administration.
Speaking at a Government Assurances Committee meeting in Accra, Dr. Prempeh emphasized that the term "dumsor" is specific to the era of former President John Mahama. He pointed out that dumsor was characterized by prolonged periods of power cuts, contrasting it with the current situation.
According to Dr. Prempeh, the current outages, referred to as "dum sie sie," are part of efforts to address ongoing energy challenges. He explained that "dum sie sie" involves planned power cuts for maintenance and other necessary activities within the energy sector.
The Minister reassured the public that the country has moved past the days of extended power outages and is now dealing with a different type of power management strategy.
