1 min readThe Ghana Electrical Contractors Association (GECA) has urged the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Energy Commission to expedite the enforcement of regulations governing electrical accessories.

In a press statement issued by GECA President Awal Sakib Mohammed on Friday, May 26, 2023, the association cautioned electrical practitioners and the general public about the increasing presence of substandard and counterfeit electrical products in the Ghanaian market.

GECA emphasized that the trade of substandard or fake electrical accessories is even more detrimental than dealing in illicit drugs, as it poses a significant risk to people's lives, hard-earned investments, health, and overall well-being.

“Dealing in substandard electrical materials is akin and even worse than dealing in illicit substances, as it has the likelihood of robbing people of off their hard-earned investments, health and even loved ones” the statement conveyed.
