Leaders in health, business, academia, and public service gathered in Accra at the Alisa Hotel on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, for the launch of Not Easily Beaten, the memoir of the Founding Chief Executive Officer of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), Dr. Darius Kofi Osei.
The book was officially unveiled by business magnate Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong and former Health Minister Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye.
Guests participated in an auction led by Nana Sifa Twum and Godwin Namboh, purchasing copies of the memoir, with several sold at premium values.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Dovlo encouraged attendees to read the book and document their own journeys. A vote of thanks by Nana Ama Buadiba Osei and a closing prayer by Pastor Boakye Danquah Tabi concluded the program.

The event celebrated a life defined by resilience, service, and unwavering determination.
The evening began with a prayer by Dr. Ivy Frances Osei, followed by a welcome address from the Master of Ceremonies and the introduction of the Chairman, distinguished public health expert Dr. Delanyo Dovlo.

In his remarks, Dr. Dovlo described the book as “a needed contribution to leadership conversations in Ghana’s health sector,” commending Dr. Osei for documenting a life of service.

Speakers at the event, including Professor Joslin Dogbe and Dr. Aaron Offei, praised Dr. Osei’s humility, discipline, and remarkable achievements across decades in medical administration. Their speeches were interspersed with musical performances by the Accra Youth Choir, whose harmonies drew applause from the audience.
A highlight of the evening was the book review by Dr. Anarfi Asamoa-Baah, former Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organization. He described Not Easily Beaten as “a story of a man who refused to surrender to adversity,” noting its depth, candour, and relevance for anyone facing leadership challenges.

Dr. Osei himself addressed the audience, sharing candid reflections on his personal journey. “This book is not about perfection,” he said. “It is about persistence. It is about refusing to give up when life hits hard.”

The launch concluded with networking over cocktails, photo sessions, and book signings, while the Accra Youth Choir provided a musical backdrop. Not Easily Beaten is positioned not only as a memoir but also as a leadership manual and an inspiring testament to perseverance.
