Interim head coach of Dreams FC, Winfred Dormon, says his future at the club lies in the hands of the management.
Speaking after his side’s 4-1 defeat to Kotoko on Sunday, May 18, he noted that he is committed to the task at hand but uncertain about his long-term future.
“I must manage the rest of the games and make sure I keep preparing my team. That decision is up to management to make, not me,” he said.
Dreams FC have three more matches to go for then—against Berekum Chelsea, Accra Lions, and Legon Cities.
Dormon admitted that all three fixtures will be challenging, given the stakes for each team.
Berekum Chelsea is slated for Saturday, 25 May, followed by Accra Lions on Sunday, 1 June, and finally Legon Cities on Sunday, 8 June.
“We have three remaining games to play—Berekum Chelsea, who are very difficult to play; Accra Lions, who are also battling with relegation; and we also have Legon Cities.
So, we need to look forward and focus on those games. So that decision is in the bosom of the management,” he added.
Dreams FC currently sit 9th on the Ghana Premier League table with 43 points from 31 games. They will host Berekum Chelsea in their Matchday 32 fixture this weekend at the Tuba Astro Turf.
Dormon was appointed to step in after Abdul Karim Zito left by choice to take on the new challenge at Kotoko in April to take over from Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Dormon was first appointed a head coach for Dreams FC in June 2019. However, following some club restructuring, he was later reduced to being an assistant to Finnish trainer Juha Pasoja.
He also was an assistant to Karim Zito, Vladislav Viric, and Ignatius Osei-Fosu.
Since stepping in for Zito, Dormon has supervised two matches—a 2-1 away victory against Karela United and the weekend’s loss to Kotoko.
