Nigerian musician Davido has expressed his deepest condolences to his brother Wizkid, who lost his mum over the weekend.
In a Twitter post, he said that he will pray for the 'Essence' hitmaker as he adjusts to the tragic news. “Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo Sadness flies away on the wings of time,” the post read.
This comes after Wizkid's manager, Sunday Aare, revealed on Friday that the Nigerian Afrobeat musician, born Ayodeji Balogun, had passed away.
He broke the news stating: “Yes, she died this morning, at about 1.30 am.”
The 33-year-old Grammy winner has not released a statement about his loss to the public yet.
Mrs Balogun had two other children — Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun. In 2014, Wizkid released a song titled ‘Joy’, specially dedicated to his mother.
In 2022, Davido had an encounter with Mrs Balogun, who he describes as amazing, at the airport.
“Such an amazing woman… God bless you ma….D [sic] way I was carrying mummy’s bags today at the airport….Dem [sic] know say nah [sic] First class citizen,” he wrote.
