Edouard Mendy, the goalie for Chelsea, underwent surgery for a fractured finger he received during training this week.
The 30-year- old's shoulder injury sustained during Senegal's run to the round of 16 in Qatar has prevented him from playing for Chelsea since before the World Cup.
Mendy wasn't healthy enough to enter the Premier League game against Manchester City on Thursday as a substitute.
Prior to that match, head coach Graham Potter stated that he anticipated Mendy, who has played 11 times this season, to be fully healthy again within the following week.
However, a training-field injury has forced the former Rennes goalkeeper to spend additional time on the sidelines.

A statement on Chelsea's official website on Saturday read: "Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has undergone an operation on a fractured finger sustained in training this week.
"The 30-year-old will work closely with the club’s medical department during his rehabilitation phase."
There is no estimated time period for Mendy's potential comeback.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, a goalkeeper for Spain, has filled in for Chelsea during the course of their last three games, during which the Blues have kept one clean sheet and allowed two goals.
Potter's team, which is ranked 10th in the Premier League, will play City once more on Sunday in an FA Cup third-round match.
