Chelsea has decided not to continue with a £50 million agreement to sign Brennan Johnson as a striker. The reason is that they have started discussions with Nottingham Forest about signing another forward player. The Blues have only scored two goals in their first two Premier League matches, and they seem to lack firepower in their offense since Christopher Nkunku got injured. Nicolas Jackson has not started playing for the Blues yet and Mauricio Pochettino wants to add more strength to his team's offense. Johnson did really well in his first season playing in the Premier League. He scored ten goals in 44 games in all competitions. Many people in the Premier League are interested in that form, including Tottenham coach Ange Posecoglou who likes the 22-year-old player. Chelsea had contacted Forest last week, trying to sign Johnson before their rivals do. But Chelsea doesn't want to spend £50m on Forest's player, so they will look for someone else before the transfer window closes. This could create an opportunity for Tottenham's competitors because they are searching for a new player to replace Harry Kane, who recently moved to Bayern Munich for £86m.
