The Ministry of Interior has issued a renewed Executive Instrument imposing curfew hours on the Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region, effective from Tuesday, July 2, 2024.According to the statement released by Minister of Interior Henry Quartey, the curfew will be enforced daily from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. This measure comes amidst ongoing security challenges in the region, aimed at maintaining peace and security.

Mr Henry Quartey emphasized the importance of community cooperation during this period, urging chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint. He urged them to resolve conflicts peacefully and refrain from engaging in any form of violence.Additionally, the Ministry has implemented a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the affected areas.

Any individual found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution under the law.
