A Ghanaian woman, Abena Kwartemaa, is gearing up for a Guinness World Record attempt by embarking on an 11-day nonstop cooking marathon.
In an exclusive interview with Ghpage Media, Kwartemaa confirmed that she has received approval from Guinness World Record to undertake the longest cooking marathon.
Scheduled to take place from January 27, 2023, to February 6, 2023, at Santasi Anyinem, Kwartemaa and her manager aim to surpass Chef Faila's record of a 227-hour cooking marathon and secure the title for the longest cooking marathon.
In other news, a Nigerian Chef Beauty Obasuyi, currently based in Canada, is set to break the Guinness World Record with an 18-day cooking marathon, broadcast live online.
Initially planning for an eight-day event, Obasuyi extended the cook-a-thon to compete with Chef Faila from Ghana, who completed a 227-hour cooking marathon.
Live-streaming the attempt on her YouTube channel, Obasuyi has surpassed 228 hours of continuous cooking. The meals prepared during the marathon are distributed free of charge at Naija Jollof in Brampton, with over 215 meals already served to more than 2,400 people.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown visited Obasuyi during the marathon to wish her luck in the challenge. The Guinness World Record attempt can be watched live on Obasuyi's YouTube page or witnessed at Naija Jollof in Brampton.
