2 mins readMinister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Dr. Freda Prempeh, has issued a strict ultimatum of seven days to Alexiboam Construction Limited.The Member of Parliament for Tano North Constituency in the Ahafo Region, has revealed that Alexiboam Construction Limited are yet to initiate the long-awaited upgrading of the Duayaw-Nkwanta-Bomaa road, which spans 13.71 kilometers.

This road project, which was contracted by the government at a cost of GHC801,818.64 in 2022, was scheduled to be completed within 18 months. However, the contractor has yet to commence work on the site, much to the frustration of the local residents in Bomaa and its surroundings within the Tano North Municipality.During her recent inspection visit, Dr. Prempeh empathized with the residents and requested their patience.

She also made a commitment to expedite the termination of the contract if the contractor failed to initiate the project by Friday, August 25th, addressing the pressing concerns of the community.The MP said the contractor's actions are “deliberate”, saying “I understand the contractor has now engaged himself in the dirty politics that some of the people are doing here to make me unpopular in the eyes of the constituents.

”“However, those my political detractors and enemies must also understand their actions and inactions are also making their own government, New Patriotic Party (NPP) detestable in the eyes of the people too”, the visibly upset MP told the Ghana News Agency (GNA). “In fact, I will not look unconcerned for the contractor and his mischievous allies to make President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government unpopular.

The government has achieved a lot in Tano North and they can’t derail our gains,” she stated.Meanwhile, during this interim period, the Member of Parliament (MP) revealed that she had taken proactive measures. A local contractor has already commenced the process of reshaping sections of the road that had become impassable.

This initiative aims to provide some relief to the travelers and commuters who have been struggling with the road's deteriorating condition in the area.Local residents and commercial drivers in the vicinity expressed their appreciation for the MP's swift action in addressing the issue. They acknowledged that with the onset of the rainy season, navigating this road had become exceptionally challenging, making the MP's efforts even more
