President Akufo-Addo is preparing to convene the Accra Reparations Conference, scheduled from November 14th to 17th, 2023.
Under the theme "Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice and the Payment of Reparations to Africans," the four-day event will assemble Heads of State and Governments from both Africa and the Diaspora, accompanied by esteemed figures from academia, legal backgrounds, and civil society organizations.
The conference aims to foster dialogue, exchange knowledge, and strategize actionable approaches across a diverse spectrum of stakeholders.
These efforts are aimed at addressing historical injustices that have transpired throughout significant periods, including the eras of slave trade, segregation, colonialism, apartheid, as well as the implications of neo-colonialism and neo-liberalism.
The distinguished lineup of leaders slated to participate includes Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of Comoros and Chairperson of the African Union; President Faure Essozimna Gnassigbé of Togo; General Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau; Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca of Burundi; and Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, among a host of other global figures.
