1 min readSamuel Atta Akyea, lead counsel for the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has indicated that the legal team will not challenge the court's decision to remand his client for seven days in EOCO custody.

This comes after the Accra High Court, on Friday, May 2, granted the Attorney General’s request to keep Adu-Boahene in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for a week.

The court’s decision was based on concerns raised by the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, who alleged that the accused had made attempts to interfere with a key prosecution witness in the ongoing corruption case.
2
Speaking later that day on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Atta Akyea said the defence had no intention of filing an appeal against the court’s order.
3
He explained that the decision not to contest the ruling was deliberate and aimed at giving state prosecutors room to conduct their investigations without hindrance.
4
“We will wait. That is the sound thing we want to do,” he stated. “We want to wait and let them comb the whole of the universe and find their evidence. We will meet them in court.”
5
The court is expected to reconvene on May 13, 2025, to provide further directions on the matter.
