The Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Practitioners Association of Ghana (SHEQPA-GH) will host its inaugural national health and safety conference on Monday, April 28, in Accra.
The event will spotlight how artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalisation are reshaping safety practices at the workplace.
Set to be held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City at 9:00 AM, the conference coincides with the 2025 World Day for Health and Safety at Work. It will take place under the theme, “Revolutionising Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalisation at Work.”
In a statement released on Thursday, April 17, SHEQPA-GH explained the objective behind the event, “The conference aims to create a platform for practitioners, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the impact of technological advancements on workplace health and safety practices in Ghana.”
Attendees can expect a keynote address from Chief Inspector of Mines, Richard Kofi Adjei, as well as expert presentations by Dr. Koduah Dapaah and Desmond Boahen, Deputy Chief Inspector of Mines for Technical Services & Explosives.
A panel discussion featuring experienced General Managers from various industries will explore how technology can be effectively integrated into current safety systems. Meanwhile, exhibitions by safety tech providers will showcase innovations such as digital incident reporting platforms, AI-powered monitoring tools, and automated systems for compliance management.
Describing the conference as both relevant and timely, SHEQPA-GH said it represents a “timely response to the growing need for industries in Ghana to align with international safety standards” through digital transformation.
The association is calling on professionals across the mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, logistics, and public sectors to take part in the event and engage in conversations that will shape the future of workplace safety in Ghana.
