1 min readIn the Volta Region National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries, three members of parliament were defeated.

The delegates made the decision to provide their support to newcomers they believe will have the tenacity to carry the party to victory in the constituencies in the general elections of 2024.

Della Sowah, a member of parliament for Kpando, was defeated by Sebastian Deh, who received 332 votes overall, by a mere 51 votes. In the 2019 primary, the former defeated the latter.

Maxwell Kwame Lukutor cut short Kobena Mensah Woyome's effort to keep serving as the South Tongu residents' representative.

He polled 597 votes against Mr. Woyome’s 562 votes.

Delegates were convinced that Frank Afriyie is a better candidate to maintain the Afadzato South parliamentary seat for the NDC, hence, voted against the incumbent, Angela Alorwu-Tay.

Mr. Afriyie was heavily endorsed with 631 votes, while Madam Alorwu-Tay managed to poll 225 in Saturday’s primary.
