The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, as its parliamentary candidate for the Fomena constituency in the 2024 elections.
The endorsement was made unanimously during the party's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
On Thursday, the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), announced the decision to the constituency’s leadership.
He praised Asiamah for his unwavering support and dedication, noting that the party is confident of reclaiming the Fomena seat with him as the candidate.
Chairman Wontumi emphasized the significance of Asiamah's return, describing it as a positive signal for both the constituency and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He expressed gratitude for Asiamah’s contributions to enhancing the party’s image in Parliament.
In his response, Asiamah expressed his deep connection to the party and his enthusiasm for leading it to a decisive victory. He called on all members to put aside differences and focus on campaigning for the party’s success, particularly by highlighting ongoing projects in the constituency.
The Regional Chairman’s visit included engagement with communities such as Adokwai, Dompoase, and Old Edubiase, where he emphasized the importance of retaining the NPP in power in the upcoming December elections.
