A customer has taken legal action against Abii National Savings and Loans, alleging that two of the bank's employees, Henry Howard Ankai and Joseph Ato Newton, orchestrated the unauthorized withdrawal of GHS 4,748,801 from his account using 26 cheques without prior notice.
The case, now before the High Court in the Ashanti Region, has prompted the court to issue an order for substituted service on Abii National Savings and Loans and the implicated employees.
The aggrieved customer contends that the two bank employees misused their positions to orchestrate a complex financial fraud, resulting in a substantial loss from his account.
The customer's legal representative asserts that the unauthorized transactions went unnoticed for an extended period, casting doubts on the bank's internal controls and oversight mechanisms.
