A tragic bus crash in northern Senegal has claimed the lives of at least 23 people, leaving more than 50 others injured.
The incident occurred when the bus overturned in the village of Ngeune Sarre in the Louga region. The cause of the accident remains unclear.
Following the accident, Senegal's President Macky Sall took to Twitter to call for increased caution on the roads.
In response to the recurring accidents in the area, Interior Minister Antoine Diome is scheduled to visit the scene.
In January, a collision in the same area resulted in the deaths of 19 people, leading to criticism of the government's handling of road safety.
In an effort to address road safety concerns, the authorities implemented measures, including a ban on overnight bus journeys.
