Seasoned Ghanaian actress Vicky Zugah unveiled the societal challenges faced by outspoken women, emphasizing the prevailing notion that such women are often considered unfit for marriage.Zugah, said during a discussion on showbiz A-Z on Joy FM, that in certain parts of the world, being vocal and assertive leads to the perception that a woman is not suitable for marriage.
According to Zugah, the prevailing mindset suggests that if a woman harbours hopes of marriage or aspires to roles like politics, she should refrain from expressing strong opinions or exposing herself publicly, as doing so could result in societal blacklisting. The actress's comments were made in the context of a broader discussion on why some women in showbiz choose to remain silent about instances of sexual abuse perpetrated by their male counterparts, as reported by ghpage.com.“In this part of the world when you’re this vocal, they think that you’re not wife material.
So, if you’re a woman who is hoping to get married one day or who is aspiring to be maybe a politician, or any other figure, then you don’t need to say these things on air or expose yourself like this because you’ll be blacklisted,” Vicky explained.
