In a video shared on Instagram on March 28, 2025, Mzbel clarified that during an interview on Joy FM, she was asked about improving the Ga music industry.
1
She noted that some Ga employees had negatively impacted her business but never made any generalised statement about the Ga people being lazy.
2
According to her, the panelists on the show, who were mostly Ga, discussed concerns that some Ga individuals are often reluctant to work.
3
She contributed to the conversation by sharing her own experiences but insisted that her remarks were not meant to belittle the community.
4
"I was at Joy FM, and the discussion was about how we can improve the Ga music industry. The panelists, who were all Ga, mentioned how some people in the community prefer to beg rather than work. I only stated that I find it difficult to employ some Ga individuals because many have resigned just a few days after starting work and do not take their jobs seriously," she explained.
5
Mzbel also dismissed rumours circulating on social media that she claimed Ga people sleep in containers, stating that there is no evidence to support such claims.
6
"If there were a video of me saying that, it would be out there for everyone to see. I never made such a statement," she added.
7
She further revealed that her manager and staff have been receiving threats from angry individuals over the allegations.
8
"My managers and workers have told me how some people are threatening them. They are the ones handling my business lines, and they have informed me about the threats, including people saying they will beat me," she said.
9
Mzbel maintained that she has employed Ga workers over the past nine years and that some of them contributed to difficulties in her business. However, she stressed that her words were taken out of context and used to fuel unnecessary controversy.
10
Despite the backlash, the singer remains confident that the matter will eventually die down, urging the public to seek the truth before jumping to conclusions.
