1 min readGhanaian musician King Paluta has formally written to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board, seeking answers over the exclusion of his song, Makoma, from certain award categories for the 26th edition of the event.

In a letter dated March 18, Paluta stated that he submitted Makoma for four categories: Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.

However, when the official list of nominees was released, his song did not receive a nomination in any of these categories.

The rapper expressed confidence that Makoma met all the moral and ethical criteria set by the TGMA board. He believes the song deserves recognition and is seeking clarification on why it was overlooked.

“We humbly write to your honorable board to demand some explanations in connection with the snub of “MAKOMA” by King PALUTA, a song we duly submitted for consideration which we believe remains Ghana’s most popular song released the year under review, generating the most excitement amongst music lovers till date,” the letter said.

King Paluta’s management in the letter said “we believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts and general public on this unpopular decision of the board.”

King Paluta’s management noted that they will be ready to engage for possible consideration of the song in the categories submitted for earlier.
