Kumawood actress Elorm Aba has criticized her colleague, Portia Asare, for attributing the decline of the movie industry to spiritual sabotage by certain individuals.Aba dismissed Portia's claims, arguing that the practice of 'juju', a term for spiritual interference is common across all professions, not just in the film industry.
She expressed concern that Portia's comments could harm Kumawood's reputation and undermine the industry's integrity.
Aba suggested that if Portia, as a Christian, finds it difficult to cope with these challenges, she should consider leaving the acting profession. She pointed out that making such statements publicly only serves to tarnish the image of Kumawood.
"Juju is everywhere, in every profession. If she can't handle it, she should stop working. We recently heard about Dr. Likee’s situation; does that mean he’ll quit? It depends on the individual. But talking about it openly damages our industry’s reputation," Aba said in a video posted by Marigyata on Instagram on August 19, 2024.
Portia had previously claimed in an interview with Ahodwo TV that internal conflicts, hatred, and spiritual sabotage were key factors behind the decline of Kumawood. She emphasized that a lack of unity among actors had contributed to the decrease in both the production and quality of films in the industry.
