2 mins readAn Irish tourist, Seon, has shared his surprise at discovering the presence of global brands like KFC and Starbucks in Ghana, challenging his earlier perception of Africa as largely rural.

Speaking in an interview with Vicemen TV on YouTube, Seon admitted that before visiting Ghana and other African countries, he never expected to see such international corporations operating on the continent.

"I always perceived Africa as a particularly rural part of the world. But as I walked through Accra, it was more similar to what I would expect back home. I saw big corporations that we’re used to in the Western world. Simple things like seeing KFC and Starbucks were a surprise to me," he said.

Beyond the cityscape, Seon expressed his delight in experiencing Ghanaian culture, particularly its cuisine. He recounted trying local dishes, highlighting his enjoyment of banku with groundnut soup and beef.

"I felt a little scared upon arrival at first, but last night I tried banku with my family, mixed with a kind of groundnut soup and beef, and it was delicious," he shared.

Seon also praised Ghana’s hospitality, security, and cultural richness, encouraging others to visit the continent for an unforgettable experience.

"What I would say to anyone who has thoughts about coming to Africa is that it's a fantastic place to be. You meet lovely people, you're really safe, and you get a fantastic cultural experience that you won't get anywhere else in the world," he added.
