Nigerian actress Ebube Nwagbo has shared her opinion on societal pressure mounted on singles to get married.

According to a post shared by Africa Glitz on X, the 42-year-old actress says she will not succumb to expectations from friends, family, and the general public against her own happiness.

"I'm not in a rush to marry. No one—family, friends, or social media—can make me feel ashamed or left behind. I'm 42, and that’s fine," African Glitz quoted the actress as having said.

The actress says she is not ready to entangle herself with a lifetime decision that may not end well due to desperation.

"I've seen people marry at 25, only to walk away years later, bruised and broken. Some came out of it depressed, lost, and silent. The pain they carry… it’s too much. Society sees none of that until it's too late. Then they start pretending to care," she reportedly said.

Ebube has emphasized she prefers to wait for a love that brings her peace rather than chaos.

"I want peace, not pressure. I want love, not wounds. I want a home, not a cage."

She has boldly declared that she would rather choose to remain unmarried at 42 than to trade her peace of mind and joy for societal expectation.

"Marriage should feel like breathing, not drowning. I won't enter a marriage just to impress people or meet a deadline. No deadline is worth my peace of mind. I want something real. And if that takes time, so be it. It’s better to walk in late and whole than rush in early and come out shattered."
