“Yeah, [I would like to be nominated in] the gospel song of the year [category],” Ras Kuuku stated.

Despite not being a gospel artiste, Ras Kuuku believes his music transcends genres and qualifies for the award. He remains confident that his gospel-themed songs deserve recognition.

However, TGMA currently restricts the ‘Best Gospel Song’ category to only gospel artistes. According to the scheme’s definition, the award goes to “the song adjudged by the Academy, Board, and the General Public as the most popular Christian song, commercially released in the year under review,” with eligibility limited to gospel performers.

Ras Kuuku has released several gospel-inspired songs, including Me Mpaebo, Gyedie featuring MOGMusic, and his latest track Tumi, which features gospel singer Broda Sammy.
