Ghanaian musician Mr. Drew has revealed that one of the biggest perks of rocking a bald look is the money he saves on haircuts.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, the singer explained that maintaining his signature bald head is a personal choice, not a necessity. Unlike many who visit barbers regularly, he takes matters into his own hands.
“Barbers no dey chop my money coz me naa Adey shave my head. If you go chop my money, ebe sake of my beard,” he joked.
Beyond the financial benefit, Mr. Drew noted that his bald look is a deliberate branding move. In an industry where dreadlocks and various hairstyles dominate, he wanted something unique to set himself apart.
“I wanted something that would stand out,” he shared, adding that he regularly shaves his head and could grow his hair if he chose to.
However, the look comes with its challenges, particularly when dealing with the sun. He admitted that direct sunlight can be unbearable, making outdoor activities and daytime video shoots uncomfortable.
“We can’t really walk in the sun because ego really blaze the brain, yeah man,” he said, explaining why he avoids daytime shoots.
Despite this, Mr. Drew remains committed to his bald look, enjoying both its practicality and the distinct identity it gives him in the music industry.
