Ghanaian musician Black Sherif recently paid a respectful visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheik Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

A viral video from October 25, 2023, captured the BET award winner kneeling before the Chief Imam during his visit to the Imam's residence in Accra. They engaged in fellowship and prayer, with Dr. Sharubutu blessing the young highlife/hip-hop star.

Black Sherif has always been vocal about his Islamic faith, though he occasionally takes artistic liberties. During a 2021 Pure FM interview hosted by Kojo Sebor, he disclosed that he belongs to the Sunni denomination, the largest within Islam, acknowledging that according to the faith's dictates, "I'm not supposed to do music, but I do it."

Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, the artist, known as Black Sherif, was raised in a Muslim household in Konongo Zongo, Ashanti Region. He is the son of an Akan Asante man who converted from Christianity to Islam.

Black Sherif's visit to the Chief Imam's residence follows his remarkable victory at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Hip-hop Awards 2023, where he was honored as the Best International Flow Award winner, just a year after losing during his maiden nomination.

His most recent project, a two-track single titled "Take Care of Yourself, Blacko," includes instant hits "Simmer Down" and "Yaya."
