Popular media personality Adwoa Asuamah, widely known as Gh Mouthpiece, has revealed a past incident where she was compelled to leave her office after expressing support for the #FixTheCountry campaign. The incident unfolded while she was preparing to go on air.
During the on-air preparations, Gh Mouthpiece received a surprise summons from her manager, who communicated through sign language, prompting her to join them for an unexpected meeting. In the presence of her manager and boss, she was questioned about a video she had made at her residence the previous night, leading to her abrupt dismissal.
Gh Mouthpiece shared her experience, asserting, "I was on air presenting, I had done the intro, and I was about to start the show when my manager interrupted with a sign language signal for me to come over. I was questioned about what happened the previous night, and I had to take some time to recall the events."
The media personality further disclosed that President Akufo-Addo had issued a directive for her dismissal due to her involvement in the #FixTheCountry campaign. She clarified that the video supporting the campaign was recorded at her home, not on the work premises.During the inquiry, she was questioned about disrespecting the President.
"After the whole inquiry, I requested to go back on air, but I was instructed not to. The only way I was told I could return to my post was by issuing an apology to the President, which I did," Gh Mouthpiece revealed.
This incident sheds light on the challenges faced by media personalities who choose to voice their support for social or political movements, emphasizing the complexities of navigating such situations within the professional realm.
