During the early stages of civilization, castles and forts served as centres of rule and authority for many monarchs and their subjects, including Kings and Queens.
In Ghana, there are numerous significant castles, forts, and palaces that were constructed for various Kings, Queens, and their descendants.
While some of these structures have evolved into historical landmarks and others have fallen into disrepair, the construction of the Assin Kushea Palace is generating considerable attention on social media.
Situated in Ghana's Central Region, this grand palace occupies an expansive piece of land spanning 7.4 acres.
The land is purportedly owned by the paramount chief of the Owirenkyi Traditional Area in the region, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI.
A video shared on YouTube by Efya Kimora showcases the Assin Kushea Palace.
The palace boasts a botanical garden, a zoo, a vast courtyard, and numerous rooms adorned with royal artefacts.
Particularly noteworthy in the viral footage is the placement of various dog sculptures throughout the courtyard. These sculptures symbolise the Chief's Aduana Clan, whose totem is a dog.
Reportedly, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI is constructing this palace to bolster tourism in the region and the town, as he intends not to personally reside in the completed palace.
Upon completion, the Assin Kushea Palace in Ghana's Central Region has the potential to be one of the largest in Africa, given its impressive pillars and expansive land area.
Furthermore, the palace walls feature an array of African proverbs, diverse artefacts, and depictions of animals and birds, among other elements.
