1 min readGovernor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison, has announced that the central bank expects inflation to drop to single digits by the first quarter of 2026. However, he mentioned that this projection depends on the economic policies and programs that the incoming John Mahama administration will implement in 2025.Dr. Addison shared this information during an appearance on Joy News' PM Express Business Edition with host George Wiafe.

In 2024, the BoG initially predicted inflation to end the year at 15%, but this forecast was later updated to 18%.
November 2024, inflation had slightly increased to 23% from 22.1% in October.Dr. Addison noted that inflation is expected to decrease due to the monetary policy actions taken by the BoG.“Based on the work that the Bank of Ghana has done in checking rising price levels through the

inflation targeting policy, the inflation rate will slow down for this year (2025), he assured.“Inflation rate will hit 15 per cent by the end of 2025, from the current 23 per cent”, he assured.Dr. Addison explained that the increase in inflation was partly due to the election-related emotions and the uncertainty surrounding that period.
