Confused NDC wants 30 million Ghanaians to think for them – NPP

Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa has dismissed assertions by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the Airbus corruption scandal did not cost Ghana any money.

He believes the largest opposition party clearly does not understand the implications of the report which the UK’s Crown Court recently documented.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Lawyer Buaben Asamoa pointed out the fact that the country’s name featured in the global corruption scandal out of the 130 countries that transacted business with Airbus company; courtesy Government Official 1 and Intermediary 5, shows that “some Ghanaian leaders stink with corruption”.

“If we did nothing wrong, our name would not have been mentioned in the case because we are not the only country that dealt with Airbus. How come Ghana’s name has been attached to an international corruption scandal?” he quizzed.

Touching on the issue of Ghana not losing anything in the Airbus corruption scandal, the NPP Communications Director explained that “if someone is giving you a bribe and you say that Ghana did not pay anything, didn’t we borrow money to pay for the airplane? Who will give a bribe and not add that to the purchasing cost of the airplane and then decide that they will incur the loss? Every money that they gave us as a bribe will be paid through the product we purchase and so Ghana has incurred debt in that transaction.”

“…individuals with names play our national team but we call the national team as Ghana Black Stars and so the mention of Government Official 1 and Intermediary 5 in international corruption scandal means we have become a player in the international corruption scandal team,” he jabbed.
