Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco has issued an apology to AC Milan fans following his excessive celebrations on Tuesday night.
The two city rivals faced off in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, where Inter emerged victorious with a convincing 3-0 aggregate scoreline, securing their place in the final against Manchester City.
In the first leg, Inter won 2-0 as the away team, taking advantage of AC Milan’s absence of the injured Rafael Leao.
Although Leao returned for the second leg, he couldn’t prevent Inter’s progression as Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal of the day.
However, Dimarco’s celebrations after the match were deemed to have gone too far, leading to his subsequent apology to AC Milan fans.

There were wild celebrations in the San Siro after the game, and Italian defender Dimarco taunted and mocked the rival fans after the final whistle, as reported by Sempre Milan.
Milan fans threaten Dimarco
According to Goal, he made offensive words on the microphone after the game and no longer acceptable chants due to an agreement between the two fanbases.
The Rossoneri fans took exception to the defender’s celebration and issued a message to him via an unsigned banner in the city.
“Dimarco focus on playing, or we’ll make you swallow your tongue,” the banner reads.
Dimarco apologies to Milan fans
The player quickly recognised the gravity of his actions and took to his Instagram story to apologise for the offensive behaviour.
“Tuesday evening after the game, I let myself go for a moment of elation. I wanted to apologise to all the Milan supporters who felt offended,” he wrote.
The investigation was carried out to ensure no threats were issued. Stefano Pioli confirmed the details of the meeting, and it was to encourage the players for the remaining games of the season.
Milan face an uphill task to qualify for the Champions League next season. They are fifth on the table with 61 points, four behind fourth-placed Lazio.
