George Andah, a former Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, has warned Ghanaian youth to not give up on their dreams despite the many difficulties the country is facing recently.
George Andah believes that Africans, particularly Ghanaians, have what it takes to be successful.
Mr Andah, speaking at the Springboard Virtual University Programme revealed that his desire to see the youth succeed is so strong that he titled his autobiography “Determined to achieve more: the mission is possible”.
“I primarily wrote for the youth of Ghana and Africa to tell them that it is possible. I also wanted to share a bit about my decision to go into frontline politics,” he told host, Rev Albert Ocran, who is also Executive Pastor of ICGC Christ Temple.
Mr Andah also encouraged young people to participate in extracurricular activities in order to broaden their horizons and develop leadership and organisational abilities.
He professes to have the virtue of punctuality because he worked as a bellboy at Achimota School during his time there.
The former MP then encouraged his fellow leaders to teach the youth how to take on responsibilities.
“I always handpicked and groomed one or two potential successors in case I had to move on,” adding that, “they often turned out so well that I often felt my leaving was justified to create room for them.”
When asked how he turned out as a successful individual, Mr Andah revealed that individuals such as Kwamena Bartels, Frank Damali, Gaddy Laryea, Norkor Dua and the late Torgbor Mensah “influenced my professional journey and taught me so much of what I know.”
As a result, he feels grooming will play an important role in shaping the generation.
Mr. Andah was the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout Brand Manager. Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd appointed him as Marketing Director and Innovations Manager.
He went on to become Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Group’s Scancom Ltd., Chief Marketing Officer of Bharti Airtel Nigeria, and Country Manager/Chief Operating Officer of Glo Mobile’s Ghana Operations.
